About the Owner

My name is Mitchell Long, and I founded Native Built on a simple belief: craftsmanship should mean something. It should tell a story, honor tradition, and create something that will stand the test of time.

I grew up valuing hard work, integrity, and the satisfaction that comes from building with your own hands. Over the years, I've had the privilege of learning from master craftsmen in both San Francisco and Boston, where I refined my skills in fine carpentry, custom woodworking, and high-end construction. Those experiences taught me that true craftsmanship is found in the details and in the pride you take in every project.

My roots and experiences have also led me down a unique path. In addition to residential and custom construction, I have built traditional tipis and Native structures, giving me a deep appreciation for the knowledge, engineering, and artistry that have existed in Indigenous communities for generations.

Community has always been at the heart of who I am. I have been a dedicated contributor to the Native American community in Minneapolis, a city with one of the strongest and most vibrant urban Native communities in the country. Minneapolis is a place built on resilience, hard work, and pride—values that mirror my own approach to construction and business.

Every summer, I volunteer my time with the Rosebud Sicangu Oyate, and Pine ridge Oglala Oyate. Giving back and helping preserve culture and community is just as important as the work I do professionally. Those experiences have shaped my perspective and reinforced my commitment to building with purpose.

When you work with Native Built, you're not just hiring a contractor—you're partnering with someone who believes that every project deserves honesty and care. My goal is to create spaces and structures that are beautiful, functional, and built to last, while honoring the traditions and values that have guided me throughout my life.

Native Built isn't just a name—it's a commitment to ingenuity, community, and building something meaningful.
